The Lodge is situated in proximity to rural Amish Country…horses and buggies and produce and basket stands are common sights on our roads. Commercial Amish country, with its noteworthy homestyle restaurants and quaint shops, is located in Holmes County, approximately 40 miles from Weyrich Woods.
Knox County parks offer bridle and mountain bike trails, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks. The newest Knox County park, Honey Run, featuring a wooded four-mile trail and waterfall, is only a fifteen-minute drive from Weyrich Woods.
Just a 15-minute drive from Weyrich Woods, Kokosking Gap Trail is a great place to hike or bike. This paved 14–mile trail runs from Mount Vernon to Danville on the former Pennsylvania Railroad right of way and is open year round. Along the trail you’ll encounter a 1940 Alco 0–6–0 locomotive and a 1924 Chesapeake and Ohio caboose.
Located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Ariel Foundation Park is a stunning 250-acre example of adaptive reuse, created on the former site of a glass-making factory. It offers architectural ruins, lakes, observation tower, walking trails, steel sculptures, a museum, and connections to both the Kokosing Gap Trail and the Heart of Ohio Trail. Ariel is 25 minutes from Weyrich Woods.
Mohican State Park features scenic hiking trails, rock formations and waterfalls. Popular activities include hiking, fishing, tubing, canoeing, and mountain biking. Hunters, check out Mohican River Wildlife Area. Mohican State Park is a 45-minute drive from Weyrich Woods.
Woodbury Wildlife Area, over 19,000 acres, provides the more adventurous nature lover or hunter the opportunity to encounter a wide array of animal species. The Area can be accessed from Route 541 and is only about 15 miles from Weyrich Woods.
